The Americana Series
Americana art is about much more than just patriotic flags and re-imagined visions of Uncle Sam.
It’s a term that also encompasses many different kinds of iconic images that reflect America’s past. And while it can certainly evoke a sense of patriotism, it can also include a much broader sweep of popular culture, folklore and classic American influence.
For Patricia, Americana art is a fluid, flexible term that allows her to craft the fabric of our nation’s past with a wild and diverse array of materials, colors and textures. It’s Main Street and it’s Marilyn Monroe. It’s the village green and the town square. It’s the whimsical and nostalgic yearning that many feel when they harken back to their own precious days of yesteryear (and also those of past generations).
You know it when you see it.
And you see it when you take a close look at Patricia’s work.
"The work I have created comes from a deep well of childhood experience. Pink has been my favorite neutral since my father taught me how to wrap a package with the shiny pink paper that I was allowed to choose. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t love dolls. Every holiday continues to provide details and feelings of remembered happiness. Parades, camp, vacations, Brownies, etc. all come under Americana which is inspiration without end for me."
